As a child I had a cross breed dog called Bonnie and she doubled as the horse I always wanted but couldn't have! We learnt agility together in the garden with make shift jumps long before it became a sport.
In the early 1970's I had a rescue German Shepherd who was so nervous that it took six months for her to feel at ease when out in public, this all changed when I met Brian and Sandra Hutchins, they not only introduced me to the world of obedience but Brian was my first instructor. Misty who became "Munchen Glad Bach Dame" went onto work Championship Test C obedience and gained a Reserve CC. Sadly she passed away aged only 7 years old.
My next dog was a Working Sheep -dog called Kyledon Cleg . I also worked Championship Test C Obedience with him and Test A and Test B with our bitch Magdan Fizz.
In 1982 I emigrated to Perth Western Australia with my family.
Obedience was the first dog sport that I competed in here in Perth and have been successful with a number of Borderfame Borders as well as the two English Imports Knights Court Jester and Magdan Fizz.
I became an Obedience and Agility Judge and recently attained my licence to judge Championship Group 5 and have instructed and handled in the conformation rings in England, Australia, America, Japan and Singapore.
My love of dogs seems to be genetic as Borderfame is a family affair with my daughter Sonja taking a very keen interest from a young age, she is now playing a more active roll in the dogs as her own children as growing up, the next generation of handlers we hope.
My aims for Borderfame Border Collies have always been to produce Borders with "Brains and Beauty" and an excellent temperament making them truly the most versatile breed, and I am sure Sonja will continue these aims.
Through my love of dogs I have been fortunate to meet and communicate with many wonderful people throughout the world.
