Claire has given me this
lovely write up below for her Kerri who was the foundation for her kennels,
Kerri blitzed into our
lives in 1993, after I had fallen head over heels in love with her full
brother from an earlier litter, Ch Borderfame Blaize OGlory "Blaize".
She was to be my first "show dog" , after we decided that Brennan's (Borderfame
Flashy Tux CD) talents lay best in other directions and he turned his
paw to obedience instead.
Kerri's show career
began rather slowly, due to an unfortunate case of "puppy uglies"!
However, she was consistently placed through the puppy classes although
not shown very often. It was only after her first litter in 1994 that
she blossomed into a lovely Border Collie who was a consummate showgirl,
her "look at me" attitude winning her many fans and making her a popular
choice for local Junior Handlers (this was her favourite job, as the
kids always had the best treats!). Kerri's handlers (including me!) were
her "accessories", she didn't really need them to be there as she was
quite capable of doing it all by herself!
Kerri notched up some
impressive wins along the way to her title, and was quite often Reserve
Bitch to her "big sister" Jade. However my favourite win, and the one
she retired on, was the Bitch Challenge at the 1999 Perth Royal Show.
Kerri produced some
lovely puppies, and she has Champion and Obedience titled children both
in Australia and overseas. She really enjoyed motherhood, and would
look after her own pups as well as anyone else's!
At home, Kerri
is Boss of all the other dogs, ruling her domain with an iron paw in a
not-so-velvety glove... :o) No food is safe with her around (a trait
she inherited from her mother, Ruff) and she is an opinionated witch who
has to have the last word, especially if she is being told off for
something! However, she is the most loving, affectionate, wise and
funny little girl who is still going strong at 13+ years old and her
most important role has always been, and still is, as my friend and
companion.
